Emails that sit in one's inbox, waiting for attention, often find themselves being pushed off the first page and hence out of sight.
When the owner finally gets around to cleaning up their inbox, they encounter the email and often remark: "Oh succotash! I should have acted on this already!" (replace 'succotash" with your favorite four letter word.)
This email has what I call the 'Succotash Effect' - it got ignored but not on purpose.
